Firehouse bells to honor 9/11

The bells of Nevada City’s historic firehouse No. 2 on Broad Street will toll Wednesday in honor of the victims of Sept. 11.

The bells will toll at 5:46 a.m. local time, when the World Trade Center was first attacked; and at 7:10 a.m. local time, when one of the four hijacked planes crashed near Shanksville, Pa.

Each time, the bells will strike nine times, pause, then ring 11 more times.
