The Nevada County Professional Firefighters Association is seeking your yes vote on Measures E, F, G, H, J, and K on Nov. 5. It is the goal of NCPF to see that the funds raised by these measures will provide 24/7 emergency medical and fire response to the citizens of Nevada County. Too many fire stations are unstaffed or understaffed. These measures guarantee a response to your emergency. Should some of these measures fail, stations would close and personnel would be laid off. Remember, these are your fire districts and we are here to serve you.

At the recent San Juan Ridge Taxpayers Association “Meet the Candidates Night,” three of the five candidates running for the three open fire board seats announced that they had banded together as a “slate” because they think alike. Campaign signs dot the Ridge listing the slate of three as one vote, although this is a nonpartisan race. Now I ask, if this slate is elected, how can they avoid “operating” as a team on decisions requiring objectivity and independence? The NSJ Ridge is made up of a diverse group of people who should be represented by similar diversity. Vote Diversity!
