Feral cat colonies

In an article dated Jan. 4, reference was made to the lack of feral cat colonies in Nevada County. There are in fact several colonies in Nevada County, which are managed by volunteers from the Pet Adoption League. All of the feral cats have been spay/neutered, checked out medically, vaccinated, provided with shelter, and are fed and watered daily.

In writing this, I also feel compelled to bring attention to Mike and Anna Drummond. Fifteen years ago they formed the Pet Adoption League and they continue their mission today with the main focus of a free spay/neuter program. PAL assists with fostering animals, providing pet food for low- income families, providing shelter from the weather, helping with obedience programs, as well as countless hours spent educating the public. At times they are approached by people looking to abandon their pet – for reasons such as their dislike of the animal shedding, the pet not matching their furniture, or simply not wanting the pet any longer. The Drummonds must quickly mobilize their network of dedicated volunteers to help another abandoned animal.

Mike and Anna Drummond have dedicated their lives to helping those who truly cannot help themselves.

Sharon Seck: Kudos to Yuba Docs

I cannot say enough good things about Yuba Docs, our urgent care facility in Grass Valley. Saturday about noon, a close relative had a close encounter with a chainsaw resulting in a pretty deep-looking gash…
