Facts, please, about ZIP boundary

A letter from Congressman John Doolittle to Postmaster General John Potter at the United States Postal Service in Washington, D.C., supports immediate intervention on behalf of Nevada County residents whose request for a ZIP Code Boundary Review goes ignored.

It’s of little notice to local media that congressional intervention has been forced, thanks to the unprofessional and ongoing delays in getting the requested review. Lost on the media is the fact that before this issue was laid at the congressman’s feet, local representatives went equally ignored. Even as the community (previously lied to and ignored) proved that problems associated with the faulty ZIP Code were continuing to grow, the media ignored (continues to ignore) fact in favor of “opinion.”

When might westernmost Nevada County achieve enough status in the county to be recognized for the battles they’re winning toward having their Nevada County identity realized? The congressman’s letter will likely help, however. In The Union’s 139 years of “prosperity,” I wonder if they’ve ever let a community down more, striving instead to ignore the effort of the people, by the people and for the people!
