EPA totally lacks common sense

There is one big part of NH 2020 that makes me strongly oppose the program. The biological inventory of plants and animals is an invitation to the EPA to run roughshod over property owner rights. The EPA stopped my group of investors from building a golf course in Santa Cruz county. We would have converted worthless land (hilly and scrub-covered) to a recreational facility that created 36 permanent jobs and no housing. The endangered species was the Santa Cruz long-toed salamander. It took us two years to find one. They migrate to a pond to mate at night in midwinter. We offered to protect and improve their migration route and rope off the pond. We even offered to donate the area to UC Santa Cruz for continued study of this creature (if anyone really cared). No dice. We lost a million dollars.

This organization has no common sense and a no-compromise policy. To make sure we lost out on approval, someone sabotaged our traps. They planted 14 dead salamanders and then called Fish and Game to report us. Our permit to continue the study was canceled, and we ran out of money and resolve. We know there was sabotage because the traps were locked for the summer and nine of the dead salamanders were not indigenous to the area. Needless to say, I do not like environmentalists or the EPA.
