Donice Noelle Krampe-Jansen and J.C. Smith, both of Grass Valley, have announced their engagement.

Krampe-Jansen is the daughter of Janice Jaeger-Bascom (Jansen) of Pleasant Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Donald E. Krampe of Merrieta and Larry K. Jansen of Issaquah, Wash. She graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1974. She is an license vocational nurse and master sargent in the U.S. Army, 91st Division, Camp Parks, Dublin. She writes and is an international talk show host for the Heritage and Crusade radio networks.

Smith is the son of Kathy and Clint Hooper of Idaho, formerly of Grass Valley; and Dennis Smith of Oroville.

He graduated from Nevada Union High School in 1973. After 28 years of service in the Army, he retired in 2001 as a captain in the Infantry/Special Forces. He works in telecommunications and is involved with the Boy Scouts and Masons.

A formal military wedding is planned for June.
