Energy help available

In response to Dave Moller’s article “Staying warm is a pricey proposition,” I would like to take this opportunity to remind Nevada County residents that Nevada County has a Home Energy Program for low-income families. This program can provide a $500 one-time per year direct payment to the utility company that will help defer the cost of home heating/cooling bills. The program also provides a wood or propane subsidy; and in the case of a shutoff notice, a one-time per year direct payment to the utility company. Additionally, the county can provide weatherization services. For more information on Utility Assistance call 265-7251; Weatherization Services call 265-1388.
