Empire Mine to celebrate Mother’s Day with tours

Mother’s Day at Empire Mine State Historic Park will be celebrated with two tours of the grounds and gardens given by volunteer docents at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m.

Sunday is also Cottage Living History Day, when docents in 1905 costumes welcome guests to William Bourn’s 1897 English-style home, called “the cottage.” Cottage visits are noon to 1:20 p.m. and 2 to 3:30 p.m.

Park admission is $1 for adults; children under 17 are free. The park is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, call 273-8522.
