Elections a signal

The Orwellian double-speak and outright lies and hypocrisy of the Bush regime’s world domination quest roll on, while fat, lazy, simple-minded Americans, satiated by consumerism and unwarranted self-righteousness, play video games and stuff their faces with Big Macs as the world crashes around them.

Wake up, people, and smell the fascism. The victory of Hamas in the recent Palestinian elections has revealed the true insidious nature of the Con Man of Crawford. Apparently it’s no longer enough that a people have free, fair, and democratic elections, oh no – they must now elect only people of whom the president approves.

If the U.S. were held to that test, a lot of the embassies in Washington would be empty. The Palestinians are already at the mercy of Israel for jobs, trade, and electric power, among other vital sustaining institutions. Half the annual Palestinian Authority budget comes from foreign aid, money that’s used for roads, schools, humanitarian food relief, and government payroll. Now, Hamas’ victory means closed Israeli borders, rotting Palestinian produce, and lost jobs. Hamas’ victory means a threatened U.S. aid cancellation, and further Palestinian hardship. We’ve taught Iraq dictatorship is preferable to freedom – are we teaching Palestine the same?
