Election signs, propositions stir readers’ ire

I own the property on Bennett Street that Dolores Jordan claimed has unlawful signs supporting Ray Shine. She needs to get her facts straight before she makes false accusations. Bennett Street is a county road and Caltrans has no jurisdiction on that road.

The signs do not exceed 32-square feet and are perfectly legal and the are on my private property. These negative smear tactics and the repeated tearing down of Shine signs placed on private property by those in support of Tom Anderson are deplorable and show a lack of respect for private property, free speech and just plain good manners.

Proposition 90 is a developer’s dream and a taxpayer’s nightmare. Proposition 90 is 90 percent funded by a New York developer who put similar propositions on the ballot in five western states. Montana was smart enough to remove the proposition due to its devastating implications.

Proposition 90 provides compensation to developers for proposed development on their property when the project fails to receive approval from area supervisors. For example: If Nevada County Supervisors deny approval to Deer Creek Park II or approve a portion of the proposed Deer Creek Park II project (50 or 120 homes vs. the 193 proposed), the developer can sue to recover the profits he would have made had he been allowed to develop 193 home sites. Taxpayers will fund developers’ windfall profits.

Corporations can sue over new consumer protection (identity theft) laws claiming that the laws result in “damage” to their company, thereby preventing laws from being enacted because the payout for lawsuits is too costly.

A similar law was passed in Oregon, resulting in about $5 billion worth of lawsuits for which tax payers are responsible. Check out http://www.NoProp90.com.

Please join me in voting no on Proposition 90.

So far pound for pound the mudslinging is heavier on the republican side then the democratic side in my daily mail. When we clean the mud from our eyes, vote for the candidate that will provide tangible results. Don’t let the mudslinging blind.
