Doolittle helping on ZIP issue

This letter is to update our last letter to the editor, dated Sept. 27, 2003, regarding the ZIP Code dilemma out in our area near Big Oak Valley.

We have thankfully been recognized by our true U.S. representative, John Doolittle, who is doing his best to address this issue. He has contacted the Hon. John Potter, who is the postmaster general in Washington, D.C., and has asked that his personal attention be given to the persistent and unprofessional delays that have made this process so difficult.

We still have hopes and expectations that our local representative Robin Sutherland and Robert Shulman (county counsel) will continue to work diligently with Chris Parillo (Rep. Doolittle’s field representative) and Jim McBroom (operations program support manager from USPS in Sacramento) to bring this long overdue problem to a close.

In the meantime, we still suffer with frustrating correspondence in the mail (i.e., from SBC) stating that we live in Smartville. So confusing. We live in Nevada County. We pay taxes in Nevada County. We are Nevada County residents. Not Yuba County.

We can only hope that our local and state representatives reconnect us to our proper district.
