Doolittle, do your job

A recent letter to The Union (May 21) wants Congressman John Doolittle reminded of his allegiance to the Constitution. Those he’s elected to represent are also deserving of allegiance. However, it’s money buying “representation.”

When residents of western Nevada County needed help with phone service issues, he wouldn’t respond. Was it because SBC/Pacific Bell was a major donor to his campaign? ‘Without him (Wally Herger before him), it took over 20 years to resolve that long-standing problem!

Western Nevada County goes ignored by the United States Postal Service. Mr. D.’s (congressional help) is required, yet he’ll only pay lip service to resolving the problem. Fact is that he, (“representation”) turns a blind eye to the irresponsible behavior of the USPS. It (and he) continue to ignore the resident request for a legal boundary review.

Mr. D. isn’t for what’s right (legal); instead, he represents what’s obviously partisan! Abuse (Iraq) and constituent abuse (here) are by-products of those elected who will do nothing.

Ruth Goldway, postal commissioner, says, “The public should focus on making the Postal Service more accountable… for it’s operations as a whole.” The “public” voice is Mr. D. yet he refuses to demand accountability. Isn’t that his job?
