Don’t forget the facts

During the Republican Convention’s rah-rahs and spin, don’t forget the facts. Under Bush our country is crashing economically: loss of jobs and health benefits, lower wages and a historically high federal deficit.

The environment is nil on Bush’s agenda, college tuitions have risen and prescription costs continue to gouge senior citizens. The “flip-flop crown” goes to Bush. He sent our troops into Afghanistan, then prematurely pulled the majority to send them to his war du jour in Iraq.

CNN, Fox and PBS report the Taliban has remobilized. Our depleted troops are giving their lives to a winless war while Osama bin Laden recruits thousands of terrorists. This president pled ignorance regarding the CIA’s and FBI’s dereliction of duties and even blamed them for untruths that led us to war. Where’s the buck stop?

Bush surrounds himself with the likes of Cheney, Rumsfeld, Tenet and Ashcroft. Is credibility an issue? Yes! Was Kerry unpatriotic for protesting the war after voluntarily serving two tours in Vietnam? Where are Bush’s military records that might clear him of going AWOL for 4-plus months while serving in the National Guard? Our votes can’t change the past, but they can change the future.
