Disrupters beware! Help make it better

As a former North San Juan volunteer firefighter of 10 years, former board member, and contributor to the financial well-being of that Fire Department, I am concerned about recent comments regarding the Fire District’s conduct.

I attended the Feb. 4 meeting and I did listen to the tape just to be sure. The board did NOT vote to lock themselves out of the office. Rather, they voted 4 to 1 to not give individual board members keys to the office and files. They may visit the office during normal business hours.

Who in their right mind would want “politicians” to have unsupervised access to all those records in the wee hours of the morning, especially now with this currently divisive activity?

I am very satisfied with the actions the board has already taken to assure fiscal responsibility. I feel the chair is conducting the meetings in an appropriate manner. Disrupters beware!

It is disturbing that a handful of strident critics continue to attempt to undermine the Fire Department and the work done over the years by so many dedicated community volunteers. Rather than coming to criticize well-meaning people, why not work to help make things better for everyone in your community?
