Cronyism thrives on county board

It appears that cronyism is very much alive and well on the Board of Supervisors.

The Nevada County Contractors Association spent more than $50,000 to elect Supervisors Robin Sutherland and Drew Bedwell. Now we learn that one of the first things Bedwell and Sutherland did was to give the contractors a seat on a powerful sewer advisory commission. Pro-growth groups stand to benefit from sitting on such a commission because they can weaken septic standards on new developments, thus putting public health at risk.

It seems to me that Sutherland and Bedwell are using their appointments to repay their campaign donors.

Cronyism, anyone?
