COURT SUMMARY

• Mark Bowden, 23, pleaded no contest Aug. 13 to one count of possession of stolen property. The charge stems from a Jan. 27 home invasion in Alta Sierra. Bowden and alleged accomplice Terry Pettigrew reportedly entered the home of a man, hit him over the head with a golf club and robbed him at gunpoint. In a plea deal with prosecutors, numerous other charges including robbery, burglary, grand theft, assault with a deadly weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm will be dropped at his sentencing, scheduled for Sept. 9.

Both suspects were caught in separate manhunts in the days after the reported home invasion.

Pettigrew has also taken a plea deal with prosecutors, and the defendants’ trial has been canceled.



• Karolina Hjord, 20, of Grass Valley, pleaded innocent Aug. 12 to charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession for sale, possession while armed with a firearm, being under the influence of a controlled substance, and three counts of possession of stolen property. The charges stem from a Feb. 26 arrest.

• Lawrence Everett Farrell, 23, of Grass Valley, pleaded innocent Aug. 12 to charges of false imprisonment, threatening a crime, and battery on a non-cohabitant. The charges stem from an Aug. 6 arrest. An preliminary hearing has been set for Tuesday.




• Scott Miles Ritter, of Grass Valley, pleaded innocent Aug. 12 to charges of possession of stolen property, burglary and forgery. The charges stem from a June 2 arrest. A Sept. 2 felony conference has been set.

• Jonathon Ryan Callahan, 23, of Grass Valley, pleaded no contest Aug. 12 to one count of burglary, stemming from a June 2 arrest. In a plea deal with prosecutors, other charges of possession of stolen property and breaking probation will be dropped at his sentencing, scheduled for Sept. 27.

• Jeremy Wayne Beldon, 28, of Penn Valley, was sentenced Aug. 16 to three years’ probation for one charge of possession of a controlled substance for sale, stemming from a June 24 arrest.
