Coursen-Slattery engagement

Lane Michelle Coursen and Ryan James Slattery (pictured above) have announced their engagement.

The future bride is the daughter of Clete and Tresa Coursen of Kearney, Mo., and James and Susan Saffels of Overland Park, Kan.

She is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia with a bachelor’s degree in photo journalism. She is a manager at The Novel Cafe in Santa Monica and a missionary for Great Commission Ministries in Los Angeles.



The future groom is the son of Kerry and Karen Slattery of Nevada City.

He is a 1999 graduate of Nevada Union High School. He attended Cabrillo College and went on to get his state contractor’s license. He is a supervisor for Arctic Roofing, an eco-friendly company based in Grass Valley.




The couple will marry Aug. 2 in Santa Monica. A reception following their marriage will be held Aug. 9 in Grass Valley.

After returning from a honeymoon cruise in the Mediterranean, the couple will reside in Santa Monica.
