Contractors take care to not harm trees

The company I work with prepared the civil drawings for the expansion project of the Grass Valley Florist. In addition to all the standard requirements mandated by the county, the owner instructed us to avoid removal of two large oak trees on the site. The grading plan was designed to avoid as much intrusion to the trees as possible and included a special provision to keep the tree roots aerated beneath the pavement.

These features added costs to the project, along with some steeper than desirable grades. The owners went the extra step to keep the trees.

It should also be noted that the contractors – Tintle Construction and Hansen Bros. Enterprises – used extraordinary care in the operation of some very large construction equipment and avoided any undue damage to the trees.

Lets hope the trees survive.
