Contest entries hilarious

Kudos to The Union for the “Lyin’ Jim Townsend Contest” and the hilarious letters printed on April Fool’s Day, Monday, April 1. My personal favorite was the treatise on “Sun Tea 2020.”

In this TV/computer/cell phone-crazed world, it renews my faith in American and the written word that there are still so many clever, witty writers out there. (I am proud to be a member of “The Lead Pencil Club.”) Mark Twain and Ernest Hemingway would be proud – and maybe a little envious. Lyin’ Jim Townsend might be proud, but he would probably lie about it.

It is unfortunate that none of these clever, witty writers work for The Union. Maybe you should do some recruiting.
