Con man steals her wallet

While shopping at a grocery store on Nov. 23, my wallet was taken from the top basket near the handholds of the cart. The wallet is put there because it is in my sight and near my hands.

I was putting two bags on the floor of my car when a man came from the opposite side and stood at the back, near the cart. He talked to me about the car. He was a mechanic. He offered to return the cart and walked off with it and the wallet. Usually I put the wallet in one of the paper grocery bags.

He had me confused and upset with his continual chatter, and I hurried to go. My next stop was five minutes away, and when I looked for the wallet, it wasn’t in the car.

I drove back and told the clerk, who phoned the police department to record what had happened.

At 8 p.m., the clerk phoned. The wallet was found on a shelf. There were no bills, but all the important cards were left. This man is in his late 60s, about 5 feet, 11 inches tall, stocky build, a large round face full of fleshy, folded wrinkles, and no beard. It would better for the community if somehow this man could be stopped in his spiteful rampage.
