Community ‘hug’ no scam

A recent letter portraying the NC Fire Fund as a scam saddened me. I have a hard time when we as human beings can’t resist the need to tear down anything good. I lost my business in the Nevada City Fire. Yes, I have insurance. And no, I did not receive any money from this fund. However, performers and musicians did.

Mikail Graham spent many hours putting this fund raiser together because of his respect and appreciation for the artists in Nevada City who were affected by the fire. If you have a cause (such as music and arts in schools, with which I highly agree) maybe you could take Mikail Graham’s lead and put your energy into a positive activity like doing something about it rather than trying to find the “scam” in something as good as this community’s incredible response to the impact of this fire. And it’s not really about the money. The actual dollar amount received by each performer was not that much, but the community hug was priceless.
