Coming to his aid?

A local event riveted my attention recently.

In the tradition of Little House on the Prairie. Laura exclaims, “Pa! You’ll never guess what happened!”

Norman Rockwell swoons, rolls over and slams his head against his coffin’s lid rushing to slather paint on canvas, depicting our local tale.

Brad Pitt rages in jealousy as Angelina’s eyes rove over the Nevada County foothills, hunger and barely restrained lust beaming from those warm, full lips.

Future sperm donors beware!

What, might you ask, am I blathering about?

Well, here goes:

Local family, terrorized by rage-fueled opossum, was saved by their 19-year old son who bludgeoned it to death (Facebook would never lie) a whopping 44 times . . . wait, not 45, 44 heart thudding times!

The story doesn’t stop there. Herds of family members and friends have rallied to his defense.

Not the opossum’s.

Hope I didn’t confuse you there. The young man’s defense. It’s a tale worthy of The Family Channel. Everyone banding together in the face of adversity …

One thought tugs at me though. That boy sure was lucky the opossum didn’t have such a rabid following. Things could’ve been different.
