Come celebrate family friendly WorldFest

This weekend, come relax and appreciate a world of music and new experiences at California WorldFest!

As the board president for the Center for the Arts, I couldn’t be more proud of this wonderful family friendly event the Center has put on for the past three years. My house is only a mile from the fairgrounds, yet we come and camp to experience the festival in its full splendor!

This year features more than 50 performers ranging from folk legend Peter Yarrow (Peter, Paul and Mary) to Patagonia’s Femina all female poetic rap trio and everything in between. The weather looks to be perfect for the festival, but if you are wary of the heat, there are two indoor stages that allow you to get out of the sun whenever you want.

This year the event offers so many workshops I don’t know if I can fit them all in: Yoga, drumming, improv, didgeridoo, healing, belly dancing — I want to do them all! Kids of all ages have safe, supervised places to do arts and crafts or play games. In the Teen Scene organized by NEO Youth Center, you can see my daughter as she braids WorldFest T-shirts into amazing designs. Our Conscious Living Village and Global Indigenous People’s Village are also not to be missed.

I could keep going on, but I’ll wrap this up saying Thursday night is Locals Night! Featuring headliner Peter Yarrow. Nevada County locals can purchase two tickets for the price of one! And my favorite will be Sunday where we will all dance together to Michael Franti and Spearhead.

Come for one day or experience all four days of music, you won’t be sorry. I hope to see you there!
