Columns about Israel

I read both columns concerning Israel and the implications of U.S. policies in the Middle East.

I found that Dick Tracy’s column raised important issues with these policies whether you agreed with him or not. Anytime someone publicly and honestly questions what is driving these policies, there is going to be protest and controversy from Jewish interests.

The Holocaust was perhaps the greatest single evil ever perpetrated in history. It has left deep and lasting scars lasting generations. It seems that anyone questioning American support of the Zionist agenda is immediately labeled anti-Semitic, a Nazi, and insensitive to its goals (Rabbi Friedman’s column, June 10).

Anyone who does not understand the large media and political (money) influences of our Middle Eastern policy from Jewish interests is naive. Israel is a Zionist state recently carved out of Palestine and is joined at the hip with America, which provides billions in loan guarantees and military aid.

To the Palestinians who have suffered from Zionism and their Arab allies, our policies look very one-sided and oppressive. We are paying a price for that. Israel is rich, socialistic, and one wonders how truly democratic any quasi-religious/racial state can be.
