Columnists hawked own agendas

I am glad the present The Union staff has finally checked the ethical side of their paper and came to the conclusion that so many of their readers had already arrived at. Meaning the fact that some of their paid columnists were, in effect, using their space to propagate and advance their political and personal views.

This turned into free campaigning for whoever and whatever, which in turn seemed as if The Union itself was endorsing their sometimes bizarre, nonsensical opinions. It is a relief to see that they are being put on the same footing as the ordinary, dedicated readers.

Kudos to The Union. I just hope this move wasn’t done before too much damage was done to issues that concerned citizens really take to heart. I noticed that a lot of the form letters (building some candidates up, and blaspheming others) were, in effect, words and phrases from these columnists. Sheep – people who can’t think for themselves. That’s why I say it’s about time.
