Clinton redux

The effort to resuscitate W.J. Clinton’s image and create a favorable legacy continues ad nauseam. The current campaign being conducted by his admirers is to remind us of the eight years of peace and prosperity that we all enjoyed during his reign. Just look, they say, after Clinton we have the Bush recession and we are at war. Conveniently ignored is the fact that the seeds of our troubles were sown during the Clinton years and came to fruition even before he left office, and he did nothing.

The Clinton presidency can be summed up as follows: He was incredibly lucky having survived impeachment, perjury and endless scandals of his own making; he took the high office of the president of the United States to the lowest ethical and moral level in its history; and we will be bothered by the dregs of his administration seeking political office for quite some time to come.
