Clases de ingles gratis

Free English classes have been added to Nevada Union High School’s Adult Education program.

The classes at Sierra Foothill High School on Buena Vista Avenue are from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. An evening class is offered from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays.

The county’s literacy groups – the Literacy Council, Library Services and the Grass Valley School District – hope to find out what education English-language learners need and when.

“We had the same mission: to bring literacy to a higher level in our community,” said Pauli Hansen of the Nevada Joint Union High School District. “If we joined forces, we could do more.”

According to the 2000 census, about 750 western Nevada County residents are native Spanish speakers. Dozens already take classes sponsored by the Grass Valley School District at Hennessy School, as well as classes organized by the Literacy Council.
