Child-care advocates to protest budget cuts

Child-care advocates from Nevada County and other areas plan to hold an 8 a.m. rally in Sacramento Monday at the capital building to protest budget cuts to the CalWorks Stage 3 child care program.

According to Rafaela Frausto, the executive director of Sierra Nevada Children’s Services, the program has 122 Nevada County children enrolled and is scheduled to lose its funding in April 2003. The expected end of the program is the result of Gov. Gray Davis’ budget cuts.

Anyone with questions or wanting to attend Monday’s rally can call Frausto at 265-9262.
