Cedar Ridge Baptist beginning program offering low-cost food

A new program designed to help people get low-cost food will soon begin through Cedar Ridge Baptist Church.

The SHARE (Self-Help and Resource Exchange) initial sign-up will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the church annex, 11452 Brunswick Drive in Cedar Ridge.

The program offers regular or vegetarian food packages for $16 each that ordinarily would be about double that cost. A typical regular package would contain split chicken breasts, fish fillets, ground beef, meatballs, peanut butter, potatoes, onions, baby carrots, tomatoes, packaged salad, apples, oranges and a brownie mix.

There are no contracts, membership fees or complex paperwork required to sign up. Participants can pay in cash or food stamps and must perform two hours of work in the community.

For more information, call Laurie Ingram at 346-8483 or Debbie Cavallero at 272-7550. SHARE is not a government program.
