CDF gears up for fire season

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection increased staffing Monday at stations in Nevada, Placer and Yuba counties.

Twelve of 20 engines in the three-county unit are staffed, and all 11 stations have at least one engine staffed, CDF Capt. Mike Marcucci said.

The increases are in anticipation of the start of fire season, which CDF has yet to declare.
