An allegedly drunken driver knocked down a utility pole early Tuesday morning when she lost control of her car and went off the road in Rough and Ready, authorities said.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Sherrie Skalisky, 43, of Rough and Ready, was driving north on Rough and Ready Road, near Rough and Ready Highway, at 1:10 a.m., when she lost control of her red Nissan SUV. The car knocked down 15 feet of fencing before running into the pole.

Highway Patrol officer Greg Thys said Skalisky was not hurt in the crash. She was found passed out several yards away in some grass, he said. She was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, a misdemeanor.

The extent of any power outage from the crash was unclear Tuesday.
