Can’t redeem lost lives

Regarding Ms. Quindlen’s column: No, the clock cannot be moved backward, not even 30 years. Nor can we redeem the 40 million lives lost through abortion during that period. You say that through knowledge, “mothers understand what the fetus is and, just as important, what it isn’t.”

But you don’t dare say what it is or isn’t. The person, from conception through gestation to birth, through infancy to eventual death, is the same human entity. There is no break, no change of genes or DNA – just the very same person. Most interruptions in that cycle are from either disease, accidents or murder. The latter most definitely includes abortion.

Quindlen stresses that motherhood is “demanding work, best done from a bedrock of maturity and security, not to be entered into casually.” Wow! Women have known that since the beginning of time, and they also have known that every fetus is a person. When they failed that responsibility in ancient cultures, the cultures collapsed under their own weight of sexual immorality. (How near is our collapse?)

Millions of women have had abortions, but thousands were not safe, either physically or emotionally. (Someone dies, every time!)

First trimester or otherwise, an infant perishes.
