Cancer patients, caregivers to write

The Sierra Nevada Cancer Center will sponsor “Writing to Heal” for cancer patients, survivors, caregivers and families beginning Sept. 19. The eight-week workshop will be from 3 to 5 p.m. in Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Outpatient Center conference rooms 110 and 120.

“The act of writing is a healing tool that’s been used for centuries, but only recently have scientists documented the lowered blood pressure and boost to the immune system that writing can give,” said Molly Fisk, local writer and workshop instructor. She says writing can be fun and easy. There is a $20 fee. For information about the series, call Fisk at 470-0188. To register, call Debby Kirk at 274-6872.
