Bumper sticker observations

There are a few stickers that seem to be prevalent around town that I would like to address. First, those of you with the NOR CAL stickers. You are not. In the same way that someone who is good at something does not need to tell people how good they are, your advertising that you are “NOR CAL” excludes you immediately. You obviously don’t get it. A pretty sticker on your pretty ride doesn’t make you something. Being from the Bay Area is not “Nor Cal.” Geographically sure, and if that is your rationale, you don’t get it. Being from Grass Valley as I am (32 years), I can tell you that your city attitude and your “Nor Cal” sticker prove that you are not.

Secondly, the “Free Tibet” stickers. I wonder what you wish Tibet freedom from. Could it be oppression, tyranny, inhumane and brutal treatment? I wonder if you feel/felt the same about the people of Afghanistan and Iraq. Or could it be that their freedom isn’t cool with you because it came at the hands of Republican leadership? Or is the freedom you speak of for everyone regardless of political affiliation. One can only hope.
