Bruce Bielefelt was unique

Bruce Bielefelt was a one-of-a-kind figure in Nevada County. He served us well. As county auditor/controller, he dealt with many different people. He didn’t “belong” to any special interest group, and heaven knows he had to deal with many such beasts. No matter if it were a fifth-generation Nevada Countian or a “newcomer,” he was the same: fair, just, caring and authentic. Beyond that, he was kind, intelligent, helpful and extremely moral. He did the “right” things because it was the “right thing to do.” He kept our county strong fiscally yet rendered help to agencies and groups that needed guidance.

Likewise, he worked diligently (and joyfully) in giving back to the community. He was actively involved in both Boy Scouts and 4-H, as well as the Ready Springs School District board. Moreover, he was a super family man. He and his dear wife, Jane, reared a strong and loving family that also was very involved in the community: Glenn, Amy and Michael. Bruce and Jane demonstrated that actions do speak louder than words.

It doesn’t seem fair. Do the good really have to die young? Bruce, you touched many of us. Salud!
