The Nevada County Democratic Central Committee is hosting a dinner with state Sen. Joe Dunn, D-Orange County, at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Ridge Resort.

Dunn, a candidate for California Attorney General for the 2006 election, will be speaking on problems that face California and what he would hope to accomplish as attorney general.

Nevada County Democratic Chairwoman Mary Longmore said Dunn is a champion for consumers and is investigating the state’s high gasoline prices.



The event will be held at the Ridge Resort at 2020 Golf Course Road in Auburn and costs $55 per person or $100 for two people. For more information, visit http://nevadacountydemocrats.com on the Web or contact Longmore at 477-1804.

Lane of Spenceville Road to be closed

One lane of Spenceville Road from Penn Valley Drive to Indian Springs will be closed from 8:45 to 10:15 a.m. Sunday for runners and walkers in the fifth annual Daffodil Run.

Penn Valley Drive will be open except for a few minutes at the start of the race and closed intermittently as runners and walkers cross at the bicycle path. California Highway Patrol and Nevada County Sheriff’s officers and volunteers will handle traffic control.

The event is co-sponsored by the Penn Valley Chamber of Commerce, Penn Valley Rotary and Penn Valley Lions. Proceeds support the daffodil planting program and various community projects. For more information, call 432-9102.
