RN earns award
Sharon Turner, RN, director of Sierra Nevada Home Care in Grass Valley, has received the Lois C. Lillick Award, created to honor industry professionals for outstanding contributions to the field of home care.
The award was presented in Irvine on Thursday, during the annual conference of the California Association for Health Services at Home.
Turner has directed Sierra Nevada Home Care since 1987 and has been active in numerous community and state efforts ranging from end of life care issues to legislative concerns impacting Medi-Cal patients. She led the Advanced Directives Seminar locally, and instituted free “Yes I Can” caregiver classes to help families keep patients in home settings.
She is an active member of the Nevada County Long Term Care Committee, the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Bioethics Committee and the Bioethics Committee of Hospice of the Foothills. She also chairs the Nevada County Coalition for Compassionate Care. She is a past chair of the Nevada County HIV Consortium.
