Todd Nunan of Grass Valley was named to the Dean’s list of Idaho State University College of Education for the fall semester.

To qualify for the Dean’s list, students must complete at least 12 semester credits and receive a grade point average of 3.66 or higher.



Students vie for top math honors

A total of 137 students from 19 Nevada County schools recently competed in the county-wide Mathematics Tournament administered by the Nevada County Superintendent of Schools Office.




The two-day event was held January 22-23 at the Nevada City Elks Lodge. Competition consisted of problem solving, geometry and computation in grades 5-8. The sweepstakes winners were Reilly Raab, a fifth-grader at Alta Sierra School and Sadie Weinberger, a sixth-grader at Seven Hills Middle School, Daniel Price, a seventh-grader at Magnolia and Austin Schumacher, an eighth-grader at Lyman Gilmore Middle School.

Other winners included David Giroux of Cottage Hill, Eli Kirshbaum of Seven Hills, Emma Arata of Chicago Park and Billy McCreery of Mt. St. Mary’s.

Community events continue in March

Grizzly Hill School is continuing its Community Night activities for the month of March. The events include digital photography, poetry, gardening, stained glass, a book fair and library time. The classes run at Grizzly Hill School from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Grizzly Hill School, 16661 Old Mill Road, Nevada City. For more information, call 265-9052 or 265-9240.
