Boy Scouts celebrate 80th anniversary

Grass Valley Boy Scout Troop 4 will celebrate its 80th anniversary Sept. 7 at Memorial Park.

The 80th Anniversary Celebration and Reunion will include an Eagle Court of Honor for the troop’s five newest Eagle Scouts – Jeff Andrews, Vince Jacobs, Josh Jaskier, David Richards and Jason Richards.

The rank of Eagle is Scouting’s highest honor.

Past Troop 4 Eagle Scouts and scoutmasters and anyone who has had any affiliation with the troop are welcome, said Scout Master Jim Richards.

“Hopefully, the old Scouts will have some stories to tell,” Richards said.

The Anniversary/Reunion Potluck Barbecue is 3 to 6:30 p.m., and will be followed by the Eagle Court of Honor.

Bring your family, memories, a potluck dish to share, your favorite protein to barbecue, plates and utensils.

The troop will furnish drinks and briquets; no alcohol, please.

Formed in 1922, Troop 4 is one of California’s oldest.
