Billboards a blight on 49

It really has been an effort not to comment on the billboards going up on Highway 49. Until the fifth one went in recently, I was going to not comment on it.

We now have five billboards between Alta Sierra Drive and McKnight Way alone.

Do we really need to see the huge face of the CEO of some bank amongst the trees.

And the gas station billboard. You can see the gas station from the road, does it really need a billboard also? Me think not. It seems the “good ol’ boy network” is hard at work to “Roseville” Grass Valley.

My advice. Look at “all” the billboards real carefully. And then do your best to not patronize these places of business.

Maybe that will get the message across that trees and beautiful scenery are worth more than money.

We know the “city fathers” sure don’t care. What’s next, the big plastic boat going back up?

Maybe if we all hit the billboards people’s pocketbooks they might come down, and we could look at just what made Grass Valley beautiful again. One can always hope.
