Better thinking

In this hotly contested election year, severely polarized like no other, both sides (liberals and conservatives) have resorted to a destructive pattern. Letters to these pages, and opinions voiced elsewhere, often object to the politicians while ignoring the programs, policies and arguments made by them. We slay the messenger while ignoring the message.

This puts heat, not light, on any discussion, and interferes with arriving at the best decision for us all. It also discourages good people from running for office. Today’s issues deserve better critical thinking.
