Benefit for us all

So what’s wrong with the fire department passing a benefit assessment to benefit the public? Wouldn’t it be nice if the fire department we all count on shows up with the best equipment and the best-trained people for the emergency we called them for?

The upcoming benefit assessment that you will be asked to vote on for the Nevada County Consolidated Fire District will secure the future of fire and emergency services we all count on. It merely replaces a special tax that is already in existence that is scheduled to expire and replaces special taxes in some of the Consolidated areas that have not changed in way too many years.

There will be more stations staffed for longer periods of time and new equipment to respond to the emergencies. We will all benefit with better response times and more equipment for the larger emergency and to back-fill stations during emergency calls.

Yes, the proposed benefit assessment is at a higher rate than the current tax, however, the amount allows for growth and for the future of our emergency service. Please allow our fire department to excel by funding it for now and our future. Return your mail ballot with a YES.
