Bee’s article misleads

Tim Stokes’ letter regarding the Sunday, Feb. 19 Sacramento Bee article about an Auburn Dam: Doolittle is correct. I know. I was there. Bee reporter Matt Weisser interviewed me for a full half hour, but alas all that he wrote – or his editor allowed – was one comment torn out of context about the lack of up to date costs for the project. (The Bureau of Reclamation will provide new numbers this summer.) In short, the Sacramento Bee included none of the substance of my remarks supporting the Auburn Dam – environmental, safety, water and electricity. (I am told former Assemblyman Anthony Pescetti’s interview was similarly not represented in the article.) I would be pleased to provide Mr. Stokes or anyone else with the substance of my views as they finally appeared after great resistance from the Bee, “Why Auburn Dam is a solid, sensible idea,” the Bee (March 17).
