Bedwell’s rhetoric scary

I am writing this letter because I am very concerned with the extremist, paranoid, and scary philosophy of Mr. Bedwell, exemplified by some of his comments. To elect someone who is obviously on a witch hunt would bring back the dark shadows of the McCarthyism era directly into our county.

To accuse the county superintendent of schools and the United Nations of being conspirators trying to control the minds of our children is irresponsible and defamatory. He has written that “We must keep them out of our children’s minds.” I would like to point out to Mr. Bedwell that the U.N. has more important agendas than to try to brainwash the children of Nevada County.

As a parent, I worry about his negative influence upon our children. As a teacher, I resent his attacks on the institutions and people who are dedicated to providing an unbiased environment for our students. Mr. Bedwell’s attitude is dangerous in a public official and not representative of our community.
