Bedwell and the lamb

Now that Drew Bedwell is leaving the local political scene, I would like to share a story about the person behind the public figure.

Last summer, my daughter raised a lamb for her 4-H project. One day we were making a list of people to whom she could write a letter, inviting them to participate in the Junior Livestock Auction at the Fair. Suddenly she said, “I’m going to invite Drew Bedwell because I think he likes being around animals. Maxine [Robinson, our neighbor] told me that he helped her feed the goats and close up the barns one evening while we were on vacation.”

She delivered her letter to the Eric Rood Center that very afternoon and Drew called her a couple of hours later. They had quite a long “ag” conversation, and sure enough, Drew was in the buyer’s section a few weeks later, bidding on her lamb!

I join other community members in sending Drew best wishes as he enters treatment.
