Beating gas prices

Vicki Sellers

In regards to the letter in The Union on May 24, titled “Lower gas prices,” I just wanted to say I couldn’t agree more. We should do more to hamper the gas companies and their high prices.

I thought the letter writer’s advice on how to go about this was insightful, and that they had some very good ideas, except for one. Switching from SUVs to a sedan?

I have a Ford Explorer that gets excellent gas mileage, perhaps just as good as the sedan we have. I think this is a common misconception with people who don’t own an SUV and think SUVs are gas hogs. Some are, mind you, but not all.

If you take proper care of your vehicle, it will get better gas mileage no matter what kind of car it is. There’s another tip on how to save money on gas and get to the gas companies!
