Basketball games not covered

Contrary to public belief, students don’t become athletes the year they enter high school. They, their relatives, coaches and schools all have a great input into this. Many hours are put in with practice, driving to meets and listening to their coaches.

Last Friday and Saturday, we sat in the gym at Nevada Union and watched several very good (in fact, excellent ones) basketball games played. On Saturday the finals were held and all teams are to be commended for their playing and sportsmanship.

It is too bad that no one from The Union sports department saw fit to cover these events. We thought The Union was a local paper and interested in all the kids in the area.

Yes, we are relatives of a player.
