Arts council slates open house event

The Nevada County Arts Council will host an open house from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday to celebrate its 24th anniversary and its newest location.

The arts council office and microgallery is at 251 S. Auburn St. in Grass Valley.

Entertainment will be provided by Ludi Hinrichs and refreshments, beer and wine will be featured.

A fine-art show in the microgallery highlights the works of area residents such as Lesley Webb, Rock Meade, Tricia Burbank, Karen Hinrichs, Kris Johnson and Lynn Rogers.

Raffle items include dinner gift certificates, movie tickets and books.

Donations will be accepted Sunday for victims of Wednesday’s fire in downtown Nevada City. All proceeds from a red-tail hawk print by Tim Bowles will benefit victims.

On Monday, the party continues at Miners Foundry Cultural Center as the arts council and Foundry present the third in an open mike series from 7 to 9 p.m. with classical and musical theater singers. Admission is $5.
