Are you an Americanist?

An Americanist is someone who believes in our God-given rights protected by our beautifully written U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights. The people we elect take an oath to God to protect the Constitution. It is our responsibility as U.S. citizens (because our government is self-governing) to understand the Constitution, including the Bill of Rights, then hold our elected representatives accountable. Reading the opening paragraphs of George Washington’s farewell address helps to understand that.

We are a government of laws, not men – and it is the U.S. Constitution – or law of the land, which we, including our elected representatives, are to obey. If they are not adhering to the law of the land, then they themselves are breaking the law and we are to blame because we have become complacent and all too trusting of those representatives. Notice I do not say officer, ruler or anything else that would imply rule over the people – this is a representative government, put in place by moral people to only protect the rights of the citizens, not to rule over them. Our government is to be our servant, not our master.
