Are we terrorists?

Why does Mr. Bush vacillate in totally denouncing the use of torture, Kafkaesque covert CIA abductions, secret imprisonment, renditions and use of chemical weaponry (white phosphorus at Fallujah). White phosphorus is torture. To be burned alive is torture.

Miss Rice, in addressing NATO in Bruxelles in November 2005, stated: “America does not tolerate torture.” This is a beginning, but until these methods are denounced and completely repudiated, the words will be meaningless.

Is the American “Christian” ethos that frail or weak that we harbor an incipient moral cowardice that prevents the unequivocal rejection and denouncement in the use of these methods in gaining apparently “successful Iraqi elections”? We are in danger of becoming terrorists in our collective combat against terrorism.

Unequivocal abolition of torture methods (mental and physical) and America joining the World Court will allow America to regain world respect, confidence and trust once again.
